Snowflakes Keep Fallin’ on My Head and Gift Cards and Coupons Save the Day
Continuing the snowflake theme, this Sunday I spent some time returning recyclables to the local center; got $11.37 back (how five cents a can equates to $11.37 I still don’t know), which can piggyback onto the rest of the snowball; that $11.37 puts me over $300 at $315.20, which will help ease the sting of the MacBook purchase quite a bit.
Following that, my niece and I went shopping for Mother’s Day presents for her mother (my sister) and her two grandmothers (including my mom). She wanted a book on dogs for my sister so we went to Borders where a 20% coupon plus a gift card took the majority of the hit; we got my mom a blouse at Sears which was 30% off; and her other grandmother got two bottles of nail polish from Longs, where another gift card took care of the whole thing. Total out of pocket expense for me was under $20; this compares to the $75 we spent last year getting the three of them Macys gift cards! I think my niece might end up being a frugal consumer just like her uncle…
