MobiPCS Gets a Nod

I only recently became a customer of MobiPCS, and not for their phone service, but for their portable broadband. While that service is currently Hawai’i only, it’s definitely the most affordable of the mobile broadband services out there–their closest competition is Sprint through their former SERO program, now called the Everything Plus Referral Program, $50 a month for 5 gigabytes of data. Everyone else is $60 for the same (admittedly, the national carriers don’t limit your roaming area the way MobiPCS does).

I received an email recently from MobiPCS which indicated that for those of us who were paying automatically (via a credit card or debit arrangement), they were “increasing their discount” (they already offered $5 off for automatic payment) to $10 a month, meaning that it was driving the price of their service below $30 a month.

While I’m not sold on the speed yet, I have to say that any type of price drop in broadband is a welcome development. Kudos to MobiPCS on this one!
