One of the podcasts I listen to regularly is MacBreak Weekly, which is, obviously, put out for fans of Apple, Inc.’s products. One of their ongoing themes is the price differences between Apple’s products and those of other manufacturers such as Dell.

One of the participants this week put forth the concept of “good enough”.
This has been an ongoing thought of mine for awhile but pushed forward while listening to the late Randy Pausch–that there’s a reason for the term, “good enough,”–some things really are good enough.

The point of the participant is that in some areas of his life (and possibly some areas of the lives of others), there are times you want something great (in this context, the participant means a Macintosh computer) and others in which a product is good enough (using his car as an example).

This makes sense on so many levels. For some time I’ve talked about need vs. want, both here and in other areas–that kids need shoes but they don’t necessarily need the $200 pair of Nikes–and brand loyalty and what that might cost you.

There’s a lot of areas in my life where I can live with “good enough”, but it’s not in every area. Where in your life is “good enough” truly good enough?
