I’ve talked about the Kindle a few times already; it’s a really neat product that is exciting for people who love to read. It has a bit of competition in the electronic reader space–from Sony, which is not one of my favorite companies–but it’s really become iconic.

Unfortunately, Kindles have only been available in the United States
–at least for those who want to use its inbuilt 3G wireless connection. Until this month.

The current second generation Kindle with the Sprint broadband connection is dropping from $300 to $260–a 13% price drop. On October 19, 2009, Amazon will be shipping a version with both U.S. and international wireless connections for $280, using the AT&T wireless connection which, unlike Sprint’s U.S. only wireless.

I’ve not purchased a Kindle yet; I’m still weighing its usefulness vs. the Daily Edition from the hated Sony which has the advantage of allowing free library electronic book checkouts using the Overdrive system.

I will say, however, that this price drop makes me think more and more about getting one soon.
