Software Bundles: Helping You to Spend Less… If You Use the Software
I still don’t know if this is unique to the Macintosh world (I don’t pay attention to much for Windows) but MacUpdate is currently putting out yet another bundle of software products. This includes the revered TechTool Pro utility suite and the Parallels virtualization program. Yes, either of these products retail for more than the price of the entire $49.99 bundle.
There’s also quite a few lesser known items on the bundle, which may do some specialized functions. That might be the issue–even if these other applications are great, do they make sense for you?
This particular bundle does a lot better than the one I looked at previously, since if you use either TechTool Pro or Parallels, then everything else is gravy. For TechTool Pro in particular, if its disk functions save you from some kind of disaster, it could be worth ten times its retail price! With Parallels it’s a little less clear cut; there actually is a free competitor for it (VirtualBox) that does pretty well. Still, this is one of the better bundles I’ve seen recently and I’m considering buying it very, very strongly, since I know that at least TechTool Pro will get used, and Parallels probably will. There’s also a finance application in there, MoneyWell, that will be reviewed here (after I get that iPhone/iPod touch version of Mint reviewed) at some point if I buy the bundle.
I questioned one of the previous MacUpdate Bundles and ended up not buying it. This time, however, I’m thinking differently (no pun intended). If you’re a Mac user, look hard at this one. It could well be worth your while.

Oh wow…you aren’t kidding. I got so much useless software that it’s driving me crazy.
I purchased the bundle and have started to like the Paperless doc management app. So far it’s much more stable than the app that came bundled with my scanner.
