When eBay Buying Doesn’t Work Out
For the most part I think eBay is a fine place to buy things and I do lots of business there. Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t work so well.
I was looking for a birthday present for one of my friends, and after searching for months, I finally found an eBay seller–really, the only place I could even find it for sale–and promptly ordered it. It was coming from Malaysia, so I figured it would take quite some time to get here. Interestingly, it only took 10 days, and I opened it excitedly tonight.
Only to find that they shipped me the wrong set of DVDs.
I immediately sent off an email to the seller, and I am waiting for a response. I paid with a credit card so I have some recourse. And yes, this could have happened if the seller was in the U.S. as well, so I hold no ill will because of that. But if it was an in person purchase, this couldn’t have happened.
Sometimes buying via eBay (or just about any other kind of online buying) has pitfalls. All in all, I’m still a fan–after all, I couldn’t find this anywhere else. But it’s disappointing when things don’t go properly and this is one that could have been avoided had there been a local seller with the same items.
