What About Poor Customer Service?
As you may know by now, I had my Cannondale stolen and subsequently replaced it with a used Bianchi which I am still adjusting to. But in the meantime, I ordered a replacement bike from Nashbar, one of the most well known of bicycle mail order outfits.
Since then, dealing with that order has been a fiasco. I placed the order on the ninth of this month. I was contacted on the 12th, several business days later, to say that they could not ship the bike to me because I lived in Hawai’i. I have been in touch with them every business day since via email and have been researching what kind of shipping options I have, including having the bike repackaged into two parcels, getting shipping quotes on uShip.com, and simply having someone take it to the USPS and having it shipped parcel post.
When I finally had enough information to make a decision, I was informed that the bicycle I ordered–the one I had put my Discover card down for–was no longer in stock. It had been sold out from under me. Needless to say, after spending hour upon hour in communication with shipping services and friends who were willing to reship the bike to me, I was not happy.
I still have not received any satisfactory resolution.
The saddest part about all of this is I was also monitoring stock of the bicycle, and I noticed the size I ordered had sold out while we were still discussing where to ship the order. Only when I asked for actual shipping quotes to several destinations was I informed that the bike was out of stock.
I have ordered from them for over two decades. I am not sure I can continue.
