Cutting Costs Using Twitter

Yes, I am a Twitter addict. I’ve discussed it before in this space; Twitter is like a microblog combined with instant messaging with a large group of people.

My personal Twitter experience is heavily geographically based; most of my Twitter friends are on the same island I am, and some are former O’ahu residents. Others are people I know from my Apple II involvement and other personal finance bloggers. This mix of people who make up my Twitterverse have helped me with all kinds of things over time, and they help me (and I help them) with frugality and productivity.

For instance, a mutual friend of a fellow Twitter user and myself suffered from a broken MacBook screen; they were quoted $700 for the repair, but I pointed out that screen repairs on MacBooks can be had on eBay for about $200! Similarly, the same Twitterer was inquiring about AppleCare for her own MacBook and was told about the option of credit card warranties.

Do you Twitter? What kinds of things have you found it useful for?
