Online Coupons: Save on Car Stuff (No Gas Coupons, Sorry!)

This week’s post by the insanely productive Kyle of Rather-Be-Shopping.com. In this edition, Kyle brings up some ways to save money on gas as well as some coupons for automotive (and other) items:

I paid $4.29 a gallon for gas the other day to fill up my truck. I am starting to think that a full tank of gas actually has more value than my entire truck! So when I saw this article about Air-Powered Cars in Popular Mechanics, and how they are coming to the U.S. by 2009, I yelled at the top of my lungs, “Where do I sign up?” In the meantime, I am doing the following little things to get the best gas mileage possible:

~ Kick Your Tires - By keeping your tires inflated to the proper level, you will increase your gas mileage. Also, properly inflated tires are safer and less likely to fail when cruising down the freeway at 75 mph.

~ Maintain Your Vehicle - By following your owners manual suggested maintenance schedule you will greatly prolong the live of your car plus it will operate much more efficiently and increase your average gas mileage. The same goes for oil changes. My truck recommends every 3,000 miles and high quality motor oil, I have no problem spending the money to insure my vehicle stays in good running condition.

~ Drive More Efficiently - Abide speed limits and avoid quick stops and accelerations whenever possible as it will help you get better gas mileage. I find myself coasting into stop signs and stop lights all the time now. I make it a game and try to keep my foot off the gas pedal as much as possible.

~ Get Rid Of The Gas Guzzler - Of course this only works if you can get a good price for it. I am not sure who would want my truck unless it was a contractor or someone whose job required the storage and hauling capabilities that my truck provides.
