State of the Blog, April 2008
Thanks to you, Uncommon Cents continues to grow. While Web site visits seem to have reached a plateau–for now–RSS subscribers continue to pile on (I’d love for many, many more to pile on as well!). Blog revenue seems solid and I’m investigating ways to increase the popularity and profitability of this venture as well.
I’m also proud of the fact that I’ve been able to keep this blog on a daily plus schedule despite lots of challenges. My mom was sick, my sister lost her job, I broke up with my lady friend of the last year, and I’ve been on call and on nine or ten day work stretches two of the last three weeks. Despite all of that (or to some extent, because of it, as blogging–or writing in general–can be quite therapeutic) I’m still able to get content out every day.
The blog has also been featured in the Carnival of Personal Finance and the Festival of Frugality and I’ve had a couple of guest posts on Blogging Away Debt. On the down side, we’ve not had all that many StumbleUpon raves recently and I’ve been spending more and more time fighting blog Spam, but that’s really about it!
I’m also planning on submitting guest articles to other personal finance blogs, working on my writing, and I’m considering trying to find a few days off to work on hosting a festival or carnival. We’ll see how I can fit all of this in as I train for some long bike rides and the Honolulu Marathon.
Mahalo nui loa to all of you for reading!

I just “piled” onto your RSS subscriber list. Great blog you have here!
Hey, thanks, Julie! Great to hear that.
