March Money Madness: Review of my Snowflaking Efforts
Yes, I know it’s April, but we’re going to have some leftover March Money Madness to review what went on last month. I thought I’d start off by looking at my snowflaking efforts in my quest to get myself a new MacBook:
We’ve discussed snowflaking in this venue before; it’s basically taking any unexpected or unaccounted for dollars and cents that come your way and using them to pay off debt or build up savings. Small amounts of cash can become much larger ones in the same way that small flakes of snow can become a much larger snowball when brought together. Snowflaking is an underrated but exceptionally powerful way of improving your finances.
My snowflaking efforts in March included $85.31 in blog income (which is expected to head into the three digit realm in April), a $15 rebate check, and $12.15 in recycling money. A neighbor saw me packing up cans in the truck to head over for recycling and gave me several more trash bags full of recyclable containers which will be sorted and added to April’s snowflaking totals.
That’s $112.46 in snowflaked money; add that to my previous total of $52.11, and we’re now at $164.57, well over 10% to a new MacBook! I’m excited to see how

Kudos for your efforts!! This is a great way to save $$$, as every little bit does add up.
One of my “tricks” is to pay off all our bills, then transfer all the leftover $$$ minus say, $100.00 into savings.
Thanks, A.
I’m enjoying reading your blog too. Think social work! Probably you’re thinking it too much already…
