For the most part, yes, you do have to buy in bulk, which means that for single people or couples, it may not be practical for a lot of things, particularly non-perishables--however, if you share things with others (maybe extended family), this can be minimized. They don't only sell name brands, however; they have their own house brand (Kirkland) which is as generic as everyone else's. I will definitely agree with you that if you have to travel a long way to get there, it's probably not practical.</description>
